The breakdown
As I try to explain in the video there have been some changes to the GCSE assessment. The information in the video and below is the most up to date we have. If there are any changes I will contact you and update this page.
ASSESSMENT
NEA 2: 50%
A brief will be set and student will be required to
-Research the task
-Select 2 dishes
-Plan the cooking
-Cook the 2 dishes in 3 hours
-Evaluate
The online text book (tab next to this one) has detailed guidance on how to tackle each section.
THE EXAM: 50%
-This exam will be 1 hour 45 minutes
-100 marks available
-Covers all the theory elements
-Marks range from 1 mark to 12 mark questions that require an essay style approach
Timetable
These date are only proposals and are subject to change. Currently we are unable to get into the kitchen to cook.
Autumn half term 1:nutrients, carbohydrates, dietary requirements through life,, factors affecting food choice, diet related diseases
Autumn half term 2: Food commodities, the science of cooking food, food spoilage, cultures and cuisines, food provenance and waste, technological developments, factors affecting food choice
Spring half term 1: Launch of NEA 2. Skills cooking sessions. Research and planning completed.
Spring half term 2: NEA 2 cooking and evaluation.
Summer half term 1: Revision
